Greenery Development In Industrial Areas
Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) as a part of environmental upgradation in Hyderabad Development Area has taken up large scale plantations. These plantations are raised under Hyderabad Green Belt Project from 1995-2000 and Green Hyderabad Environment Programme 2001-2006.
As a part of Urban Greening Programme HMDA has identified Industrial Development Areas like Jeedimetla Industrial area, Balanagar Industrial area, Cherlapalli Industrial area, Nacharam Industrial area, Ramachandrapuram Industrial area for promotion of plantations. Greenbelts in the open areas of industrial establishments were developed as a block plantations to provide thick green canopy to contain the industrial pollution and to improve the green environment around the notified industries. The multiple row and single row avenue plantations were raised in industrial development area roads to support the green belts to upgrade the green environment in the industrial layouts developed by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited.
HMDA has developed about 215 Ha of greenbelt plantations with 2,13,755 trees of tropical and local species in industrial development areas. About 753 Ha in industrial research and development organizations with 7,55,400 trees of local origin and single row treeguard plantations have also been taken by HMDA for 45.5 Km with 18260 plants.
